Resurfacing Drives Work at Ranger's South, Central Divisions
(1st/2nd Quarter 2010)

Through the first four months of 2010, overlay contracts outpaced new construction at Ranger’s South and Central Divisions.

Crews are milling and resurfacing three miles of SR-7/US-441 in Broward County under a $4.5 million agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The South Division has 400 days to finish the job, which includes some widening, drainage improvements and more.

Also in Broward, South crews are improving four miles of SR-84. The $2 million DOT contract has a schedule of 210 days and includes sidewalk and guardrail work.

Central’s backlog includes three large milling and resurfacing jobs in Palm Beach County. An 11-mile SR-809 (Military Trail) project includes sidewalk ramps at numerous intersections. The $6.4 million project benefits from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus funds.

Crews are rehabilitating another 1.75-mile stretch of SR-809 under a $1.9 million contract. Besides resurfacing, the job includes drainage, curb, gutter, sidewalks and ramps, and signage work.

Central’s new work also includes improvements to I-95. Under a $2.4 million ARRA-funded contract, crews are milling and resurfacing 6.5 miles of the limited access freeway, with a schedule of 185 days for completion.
